Overall, there’s a lot to like here
Narrative
Soriya returns to Cambodia to find herself after her mother’s death, and there she finds a family she’s never met and an old building full of dark secrets. After the death of her Japanese-Cambodian mother, a manga artist and her boyfriend decide to travel to Cambodia to learn more about her past, but when she encounters strange happenings in the building that point to something more sinister. the residents must stop it before it spreads. One of the strongest features is the really pleasant and attractive setting, with many interconnected parts that go together quite well. Beginning with his mother’s death under mysterious circumstances.
This setup makes the film much more entertaining as the sinister instincts begin to materialize
Living in a community from which he has long been estranged, this provides the means to strengthen the motivation to return, as well as providing enough background for each other. Since we are aware of the relationship shown and how it affects him, the desire to contact everyone when he arrives to find out why is a natural part of their reunion. It also makes the presence of community behavior and ritual seem like the perfect option to enhance this type of story, appearing in charming ways before gradually becoming darker and more sinister. This creates a fantastic sense of looming fear the longer they stay in the community, and increasing danger leads to greater tension. When the restrained nature revolves around the well-intentioned, if slightly inappropriate behavior of the community, or just the ritual trappings that go unnoticed, it’s nice enough to serve the film until the more open-ended sequences come later.

A large sequence serves as a strange meal preparation as the assembled family members and others he has met in the community perform what appears to be a ritual ceremony to prepare him for a special occult ritual that soon turns into a ritual. the fever dream he can’t separate from the reality of the dream is pretty impressive. He begins the rest of this volume’s much darker genre effort, featuring several revelations about the visions he experienced, leading to a wild finale where the dark origins of the ceremony are revealed. about bringing new life into the hosts' a body that is again more restrained than expected, but still manages some generally creepy visuals and chases around the complex. All of this adds up to a lot to like here, as while there aren’t too many downsides, a few issues do crop up.
sinister behavior almost exclusively evokes fears
One of the main factors here is the feeling of confusion because there is very little explanation. Since the first half is much more ominous and subdued than anything else, there isn’t much of a way to figure out what’s going on, instead focusing on the haunted atmosphere of the building and their atmosphere. As a result, hardly anything is revealed about what the community is trying to do, what their rituals entail, or how everything is to be achieved, so very little is brought to light. Nothing is resolved until the end, so it’s possible that this will be a little confusing at first to get your head around what’s going on. Another downside is that this setup also makes for a rather slow first half, with very little going on beyond creating a worthwhile story, so it takes a while to get that point across.
